She hadn't been sure if he'd prefer dark, milk or white chocolate… so she covered her bases and made sure there were a few of each. There was a little note attached to the gift as well, which read, in bubbly script: ]

Which means she's talking about...well, not necessarily a run-of-the-mill arrowhead, but probably that.

And given that she's coming to Josuke about it? The teen thinks...actually, he's really not sure what to think about it. Annie can heal. She ought to be able to pull the arrow out on her own and go from there, right? Unless something went wrong.

Josuke, having been awarded the the title of First Place for the Nonah Hot Dog eating contest, would have received his winnings on March 20th!

This includes a large red ribbon with pin back AND neck sash (should he like it placed on a lapel or around his neck more) and a $100 give certificate to a local well known Nonah Grocery store! [it's maybe an hour or so after her meltdown on Sabriel's post, and honestly angry self-destruction hasn't done much to make her feel any better. she's calmer now, but she still wants comfort, and...well, this is the only place she knows to get it without fail.

it doesn't even really matter how the conversation goes. if they just banter back and forth into infinity that's amazing, and if Josuke can actually tell there's something wrong? Hazel's tired enough that she doesn't really mind finally telling him about her encounter with necromancers and the strain it's been putting on her, even if there's nothing it will do but upset him. she can't lose, really.]

[a couple days is really not all that much to work with when it comes to celebration, and Hazel is superficially grouchy about the short notice as she lets herself into Josuke's house.

she's steadfastly ignoring the fact she still hasn't told him he missed her own birthday, because that's totally different and completely irrelevant to the point at hand. also it would mean she can't be playfully crabby at him for a bit. so she's actually feeling pretty good about everything...until she opens the door to Josuke's bedroom and gets an eyeful of what's going on in there.

maybe she should have texted that she was coming over after all.

it doesn't take a genius to realize that something emotional's caused this, and Hazel knows for a fact that she isn't skilled enough to deal with it in person. over the phone, yeah, but not face to face. the only way to salvage this and keep from fucking anything up further is obvious: ESCAPE.

and maybe she'd have been able to actually do that if she didn't have a vaseful of flowers nestled in the crook of one arm. she's being quiet as hell, but the bobbing flowers as she tries to close the door again and book it are kind of attention-grabbing.]

[If the click of the latch bolt wasn't enough to grab Josuke's attention, the colorful flowers certainly seem to do just the trick. Or perhaps it's that whoever's opened his door is suddenly attempting to retreat? Yeah, that's more like it.

He can't see the face of his unexpected visitor, but knows that none of his roommates would intrude without permission. Meaning that whoever it is has let themselves into the house. Seemingly with good intentions, if one is to instantly trust the sight of flowers, but Josuke doesn't. And he doesn't because he's on edge. And that he's on edge shows, as Hazel has already noticed, in every possible way imaginable...

His ordinarily tidy appearance is...not-so-tidy now. Bits of hair hang loose from his pompadour and he pays them no mind. His usual freshly washed and crisp choice of attire, not to mention all of his much beloved accessories? Nowhere in sight. He's wearing loose slacks and a...generic tee? Not his finest hour.

And his room. As he wrenches open the door looking almost ready to tackle to the floor any adversary that could await, his room looks like...a zoo? Sort of. It doesn't smell like one, at least! A small mercy, that. But it's still frightful to look at considering how on top of things he always appears to be and clearly has not been of late. For whatever reason.

Speaking of on top of...he hasn't tackled Hazel. That's good at least, right? Instead, he just looks down at her in confusion. Particularly at the flowers. The hell........?]

Somehow I'm not thinking 'wrong address' but I can't see why else you'd haul flowers here. Unless you're looking for Hime's room? Or Reika's?

[The sound of a video game life being lost echoes from behind him and Josuke rolls his eyes. So not great...]

[There's plenty of background noise at the arcade where Josuke is when Hazel calls, so he doesn't pay much mind to any packing sounds that may accompany her chatter. In fact, he's so used to her voice by now that he doesn't even think anything of her message not being delivered via text.]
